I
send my new first grade students several post cards over the summer
with ideas of things they could be doing at home to prepare for
school. I include basics such as, "Be sure you can count
from one to one hundred," and "make sure you can tie
your shoes without help."
They love to get mail and the few cents it costs to mail each
card pays off big time when the students arrive with basic skills
mastered! (I use standard card stock and get four cards
out of each sheet.)
