Towards
the end of the year I keep motivating my students to read by hosting,
"Battle of the Books". I give them a list of 5 different
novels I want them to read over a period of a couple of months.
I then divide my class into teams and each day they are given
some time to discuss with their team about the novels and the
characters in the novels. This is a team effort, so each one in
the team tries to tutor one another so that they will all succeed.
Then on the day of the "battle" I pass out white boards
to each of my students. I then will read a quote from one of the
novels and they have to guess which novel it comes from. Points
are awarded to how many points were scored on each team.
