Obtain
a keyboarding book used for keyboarding skills. In there, you
will most likely find a copy of the layout of a keyboard, with
all the letters of the alphabet on it. Make a photocopy of one
for each student in your classroom and mount onto tag board. Laminate
to help keep them nice for future use. When it's time for spelling
practice, pass out the keyboard and have your students "type"
away their spelling words! Have them posted on the board for all
to see and challenge them to type each word 3 times. Walk around
as they are "typing" to be sure that they are all taking
this seriously. This really is a great spelling activity as it
gets your students thinking letter by letter and concentrating
on what follows. Tell them, "Don't forget those spaces!"
:-)
You
could also place these in a learning center for extra practice
time!
