I
like to cut out squares of construction paper to take with me
when I go substitute in a classroom. When I see students on task
and behaving in a positive manner, I quietly walk around the room
and place them on those students' desks. They are then instructed
to write their name on the square. It's amazing the "ripple"
effect that occurs when students see you passing those out. At
the end of the day, everyone gets to put their squares (as many
as they collected that day), in a jar for a special surprise.
