I
take a baby-food-sized jar filled with small candies with me when
I substitute. When students are being good, I will call on one
of them to write an estimated guess of how many candies they think
are in the jar. We record the guesses on the board. At the end
of the day if any of the estimates are within 5, I break open
the jar and everyone gets to enjoy the treat!
