A
monthly class newspaper is a perfect way to communicate with parents
as well as give your students the chance to show off their writing
and illustrating skills! The possibilities with a newspaper are
endless, but here are 10 ideas that have been a success for our
classes:
1 - Have a class-created name for your paper. Brainstorm ideas
and take a class vote. Have a child or two write about this process
of coming up with your newspaper name.
2 - Headlines and articles of events that have occurred in your
room, as well as the ones coming up in the future. Perhaps the
class learned long division in a week! Now that's something to
write about!
3 - Weather reports
4 - Spotlights on the birthday children that month
5 - Editorials
6 - Interview a VIP at your school - the principal, janitor, librarian,
or lunchroom worker are just a few of your many choices!
7 - School and PTA news
8 - Lost and found
9 - Reports on a recent class meeting
10 - A note from the teacher
