No
matter what grade you teach, the concept of money is always involved in your math
curriculum. Whether it's identifying coins and their values or counting
back change, money is something that can never be practiced enough. Well,
have we got a tune for you! Its called, The Lunch Money Jingle
and its to the tune Hes Got the Whole World in His Hands. Thats
right teachers this tune is a catchy one and will inspire you and your
students to get up and move around!

the song and accompanying worksheets by clicking on the links below. These worksheets
are ideal for each student to have at their desk. It is also helpful to have worksheet
#1 copied onto an overhead transparency to use as you teach. Students can choose
menu items from the Lunch List (worksheet #2) and determine what coins
would be needed to buy that item.
Example: A student raises
his hand and says that hed like to buy the (fill in the blank)
for (fill in the blank). The class would then manipulate those coins on their
own worksheets (worksheet #1). You might also want to do this with transparent
coins on the overhead. On their papers, students will show three different ways
to create the same money total.
These
worksheets can be used in a variety of ways, depending on the level of your students
and what they are ready for.
