What My Ancestor Did

For an English or social studies assignment, near St.Patrick's Day would be good, or anytime we talk about different cultures. Have the students go home and find out a story about a parent, grandparent or further back. They should write it up and bring it back in and share it with the class.

I have had stories about a sea captain, a boy's sister who was in Manhattan on 9-11, an ancestor who came over on the Mayflower, etc.
