Have
a special, mind-cracking, real-life math problem put up on one of
the bulletin boards. Let it be there for a week and the students
must try it. They should be given some incentive or a star for solving
it. I have seen it work so well in my class, they go crazy after
it. Once they have cracked it, they wait for the next question to
be put up. They work on it in their free time. It is also very effective
for those kids who don't have much interest in the subject. I have
seen such kids also come up with solutions for it.
