"The Sunshine Club" - Quiet Hallways

One of our rules at my school is quiet hallways. We started writing the names of the students who talked in the hallway and put them on the "Sunshine List." The children on the list then run laps around our playground. (They are running in the "sunshine.") After their laps are complete, they may play. My 2nd graders run 5 laps. (The number, of course, can be adapted for the age of the students.) It may seem "tough" to some, but our hallway is quiet. We started this towards the middle-to-end of the year, but have seen the success and plan to start early next year.
